Arthritis Muscle Pain

Anyone who has experienced or knows someone who suffers from arthritis muscle pain knows that the pain can be excruciating and ongoing. Sometimes when one experiences this kind of pain, he or she is unaware that the pain is coming from arthritis but often think that the pain is the result of overexerting or overdoing.

There are over 100 types of arthritis and because this is a reality, it is best to see your physician to see what type of arthritis you have and what treatments would be best suited for you. It is well known that there is no cure for arthritis but there are many ways it can be treated. And, contrary to what most people think, arthritis does not attack only those who are older but it can also affect those who are younger.

When you suspect that pain in your muscles is coming from arthritis, it is best to consult with your family physician and get a referral so that you can see a rheumatologist. A visit to a rheumatologist is highly suggested because he or she can determine what type of arthritis you have and what treatments would work well for you. Early diagnosis of arthritis is essential in order to prevent joint deformities and prevent worsening symptoms from the disease.

There are two categories of arthritis muscle pain. The first category is known as acute. Acute arthritis muscle pain comes on suddenly with sharp pain which often does not last long and has been termed for many years, as flare ups. This kind of acute pain happens when the body experiences such things as a sharp nail, a sharp knife, fire and other dangerous types of pain. The second category of arthritis pain is a pain that is chronic. Chronic pain is a lasting type of pain, long term and has no purpose at all.

Acute and chronic pain can be treated in several different ways. One way to deal with arthritis is by using cold and heat packs. You can apply a cold pack on and off for an hour and then apply hot pack. This can be done in reversed order; however the person wants to do it.

Then there is massage therapy. Massage therapy is not for everyone but when it comes to reducing pain and stiff movements that come from arthritis, this kind of treatment might be of help. A massage therapist can help stimulate your joints and by stimulating your joints, you will have a larger range of motion and help reduce swelling of your joints.

Relaxation is still another way to help reduce arthritic pain. Practicing Yoga or enjoying a warm bath before going to bed can help reduce muscle pain and help you to get a good nights sleep and helps to keep undue stress out of your life.

Hydrotherapy or water massage can also help give relief to arthritis. In addition, exercising in water has also been found to give relief to arthritis. Just ordinary walking can also help with arthritis because walking is considered by many to be the perfect because it utilizes all muscles of the body.

As with most illnesses, eating a healthier diet can give you an advantage with arthritis. Consuming antioxidants can certainly help to maintain healthy joints and of course this means adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet.

In addition, there is a new way to treat arthritis pain and that is laser pain reduction therapy. This treatment therapy works well not only for arthritis pain and swelling but also for shingles, sciatic pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritics, neck problems, etc. During the treatment sessions, there is little sensation that the patient feels. The patient only feels a soothing warmth or mild tingling.

Even though most physicians feel that arthritis is not inherited, a study from Holland not long ago has shown that those who develop rheumatoid arthritis usually have abnormal arthritis blood tests long before they develop arthritic pain. This is another good reason to see a doctor if you suspect arthritis because the earlier it is diagnosed, the better the treatment plans.
