Wiesbaden rallies to stay in playoff hunt

BRISTOL, England-the Warriors Wiesbaden remained alive for the playoffs Saturday with a gut-check win 37-34 Saturday over pride Filton.

"We were behind 27-0 with nine minutes left," Wiesbaden coach Steve Jewell said by telephone after the narrow escape of his team. "Then Dan Harris, who never fumbles, fumbled and returned for a touchdown. It looked as if it were just one of those days. "
Instead, it was a day for the ages.

Harris atoned for his bobble by kicking in a higher gear, one available just behind. Held at 50 meters in total offense for the first three periods of the game, he broke loose for 125 yards and three touchdowns on 12 minutes.

Harris "exploded against our defense very tired," coach Filton Benjamin Herod wrote in an email on Saturday.

Harris not alone, said Jewell, resuscitating the warriors.

"We have finally started to keep them and we started to make some plays," he said.

For the second straight week, quarterback Garry Miskovsky stood out on both sides of the ball, throwing a 18-yard TD pass to Brian Sealey during the rally and also for the second straight week, the ball from a runner Filton naked and return 40 yards to set up another score.

"Miskovsky was a monster for us again," said Jewell.

Reggie Smith added an interception for Wiesbaden, which improved to 3-2 in its final regular season Saturday against visiting Lakenheath.

"We were still behind two touchdowns with five minutes to go," said Jewell. "Our last TD came with 01:30 left".

Filton (2-3) fell out of playoff contention. Pride is to close its season this Saturday at Ramstein

Farrell Nicky ran for two touchdowns, Ryan Nestor recorded a rush TD to Filton, Farrell threw a 20-yard TD to Dale Somers and Will McLaughlin picked up the fumble and Harris took 58 yards for the final score of the pride of the day.
